Invited by Mr. Antonio Trayani - Vice President of the European Commission, ‘Open Youth’sent two delegates to the European Youth Conference on Road Safety, organised by the European Commission in cooperation with youth organizations from 27 EU Member States. It was held on 10 July 2008 in Brussels. Official guest of the conference, at the invitation of Mr. Trayani, was the world champion of Formula 1 - Kimi Raykonen. Representatives of all 27 member states worked actively for the exchange of best practices and development of common activities together with psychologists, police and firemen, working on the issues of road safety. Themes, affecting the young people in their work for reducing the number of victims on the road, were discussed. The meeting aim was to engage young Europeans in the development of common projects to ensure road safety and to initiate activities related to preventing driving after alcohol use among young people.
