From 06 to 19 of October 2013 "Open Youth", together with the "Traffic Police" department, Chief Directorate "National Police" of Ministry of Interior, together with the regional "Traffic Police" departments of the Police directorates in Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil, Vratsa, Vidin, Shumen, Dobrich and Varna, will carry out a campaign for encouraging a responsible behavior of the young people on the road.

For increasing the young people awareness about different aspects of their participation in the road traffic, the “Open Youth” representatives will use a multichannel approach, combining:
-    interactive presentations;
-    questionnaires;
-    high-tech tools – ecodriving simulator, alco- and drugvision goggles, weight scale and puzzle.

For the first time we will also test a holistic approach in the organization of the event, involving simultaneously experts from the association, a team of trainees and specially-trained local volunteers. The young people that test the eco-driving simulator will receive a sertificate with their personal achievements as eco-driver, while those that answer the questionnaire – a single use breathalyzer test for self-control of the alcohol level in the blood.

The concrete time and venue of the actions will be communicated separately before the respective campaign. The last takes place in the framework of “LIVES” project (Local Innovative adVentures to Ensure quality in youth road Safety promotion), which boosts efforts of NGOs from a number of East European EU member states in road safety promotion. LIVES addresses the issue of road safety in countries, generally lagging behind in reaching set European targets such as Poland (102), Bulgaria (102), Romania (111), and to a less extent Slovenia (68) and Hungary (74) that have a road deaths rate per population by far above the EU average of 61 deaths per million population in 2010 (source: CARE database and national data). It is co-funded by the European Union through the "Youth in Action" programme, Action 4.4.
