From 14th to 16th of September 2012 "Open Youth" trained 36 young Bulgarians on the theme "Institutions and policies in Europe." This was the final activity of the project "My rights as a citizen of Europe! I'm on the move ", supported by the "Youth in Action" Programme of the European Commission, during which the young people have adopted a special declaration, expressing their opinion on issues related to the Bulgarian reality and outlined priority areas for work. The Declaration will be circulated to all Bulgarian media and institutions.
The project is a virtual simulation of the electoral process, during
which in an interesting and interactive way through personal
involvement, each person aged 18 to 30 years, who wants, can learn more
about the election’s technology and enrich his/her knowledge of the
European citizens' rights. Its main objectives are to provoke young
people to become more active citizens; to help them understand the
mechanisms of representative democracy in its Bulgarian version and to
become motivated to learn more about their European citizens' rights.
Within the project, over 4,700 people supported it on Facebook, and over
500 have registered on the site to participate in the virtual
simulation.
