Angels will roam the streets in order to reduce street violence

The campaign "City angels" is new "Open Youth" initiative, with which young people will contribute to reducing risks in their free time. In the framework of our initiative we will organize 11 events with a preventive focus (1 pilot and 10 in the campaign). They will be implemented by a team of six young people, equipped with recognizable clothing and bicycles with small trailers. The main target group is young "street revelers” aged 16 to 30 years. Prevention will focus on the basis of antisocial street behavior (drug use, alcohol abuse, road aggression, sexual violence, social and cultural intolerance, suicide and self harm, bullying among young people). Free material will be distributed in support of the preventive messages: leaflets, antistress balls, water, single-use tests for alcohol or drugs, condoms.

The pilot event will start on August 12, 2011, at 14.00, at the open scene of Borisova Garden in Sofia as part of International Youth Day.
The campaign "City angels" is part of the "City-ZEN" project, which aims to inform, advise and guide young people to prevent street violence and to answer questions related to their lifestyle through the development of appropriate knowledge and responsible life behavior. The project is implemented in six European countries and is financed by the European Commission within the "Daphne III" program.
