On 16th of October 2010 the campaign “European night without accident” was carried out for third consecutive year in Bulgaria.

This year it covered all 17 EU member states. The organizers were “Open Youth” and Ministry of Health through the its local branches. The goal was to raise the public awareness on the problems of road safety and to encourage young people not to combine alcohol with driving.
36 young volunteers from four towns carried out the night action by trying to convince drivers not to drink if they plan to drive after the disco. 195 people accepted the challenge and 176 came back to prove to the volunteers that they kept their promise. Unfortunately only 131 had actually done it. To the other 45 the volunteers explained that for their own safety and that of their friends it is better to leave their car on the parking lot or ask someone, who was not drinking, to drive them home. Here are the results for each town:
Dobrich / club “Bacardi”: 75 people agreed to participate in the initiative and put a bracelet as a sign of the promise made. All of them returned to prove if they complied. The alcotest showed concentration of:
- less than 0.5 promiles in 16 women and 54 men or 70 people kept their promise.
- over 0.5 in 5 men.
Silistra / club “88”: 68 people agreed to participate in the initiative and put a bracelet as a sign of the promise made. 64 returned to prove if they complied. The alcotest showed concentration of:
- less than 0.5 promiles in 12 women and 17 men or 29 people kept their promise.
- over 0.5 in 5 women and 30 men.
Razgrad / club “Energy”: 10 people agreed to participate in the initiative and put a bracelet as a sign of the promise made. All of them returned to prove if they complied. The alcotest showed concentration of:
- less than 0.5 promiles in 6 men or they kept their promise.
- over 0.5 in 4 men.
Targovishte / club “Blue magic”: 42 people agreed to participate in the initiative and put a bracelet as a sign of the promise made. 27 returned to prove if they complied. The alcotest showed concentration of:
- less than 0.5 promiles in 5 women and 21 men or 26 people kept their promise.
- over 0.5 in 1 men.
