ACCORD

or foundations of cooperation in Road Safety between Europe and China

From 12th to 16th December 2011 the first meeting of the ACCORD* project took place In Brussels. The project is supported by the “Youth in Action” program, EACEA, DG “Education and culture” of the European Commission, in the framework of the EU/China Year of Youth. The project coordinating organization is “Open Youth” (Bulgaria). Its partners are: TOP-25 (Belgium), Responsible Young Drivers (Luxembourg) and Safe Kids China (China). Its main aim is to put the first brick of the bridge between organizations of the European Union and China, as well to build a long-term cooperation between them in the field of Road Safety. Priority will be given on prevention through peer to peer communication and citizens’ direct participation.
Guidelines and approaches for implementation of planned activities were defined during the meeting. Various tools, used in European Union Road Safety campaigns were presented. The Safe Kids China representative, Mrs. Fanny Wang, had the opportunity to experience what the feeling is when you put Alcovision goggles, simulating the influence of alcohol while being sober, and to sit behind the wheel of a driving simulator – a 3D high-tech platform, designed to simulate the driving experience close to the real one.
The main methods, which will be used in the project will be based on the crossfertilization of experience of the partner organizations with the emphasis on the exchange of knowledge, skills and tools in Road Safety field between EU and China.
