16% of drivers do not keep distance. 15% turn without lights signals. 14% stop on improper places.

This shows the "Road Safety Advocates" project teams monitoring reports. Youngsters had the task to monitor a spot of the road network for an hour, considered as risky, to identify problems and to propose solutions. So far 29 such audits in 17 regions of Bulgaria were conducted. 3928 vehicles were monitored and 4917 violations were identified, which means that in general the drivers make more than one violation.
Very interesting are the observations of violations that are usually considered as reasons for accident with serious injuries. 13% of drivers do not use seatbelts. 11% do not give priority. 10% ignore the "STOP" sign. 7% use a mobile phone. 6% overspeed. The fact that no driver under influence was noticed is the good news.
In the same time pedestrians actively participate in the competition not to follow the law. 1905 pedestrians were observed and 709 violations were recorded. 24% of pedestrians crossed the road on inappropriate place. 10% behaved arrogantly and insultingly. And "only" 3% passed on a red light.
The young people analyzed the problems and propose different solutions to reduce distortions and the associated risks starting from "to strengthen enforcement" through "to facilitate the access of pedestrians" to complete infrastructure improvements, more details of which can be found in the articles of the teams, published on the project website - http://rsa.open-youth.org
On October 27, 2013 based on accumulated “likes” on the shared project teams’ articles, the ones to receive a packs of information and communication materials to support the organization and implementation of local meetings were chosen. Because of some more pack are available, those will be distributed to teams that have reached the stage of "Organizing a meeting" without regard to the district of origin with a deadline of March 31, 2014. After this date, any remaining materials will be used during the "National Campaign" stage. The next key date for the project is November 7, 2013 when teams to receive a pair of alcogoggles will be chosen.
In support of the efforts of young people to disseminate information about the project, flash banners were developed, which can be downloaded from http://rsa.open-youth.org/participate.php by web administrators who support the initiative. The teams are also allowed to make other banners that lead directly to their article.
