The competition ‘Become an Ambassador of the European Road Safety Charter’, organized by the European Commission ended with success for Bulgaria with the participation of Savina Atanasova. She was chosen by the international jury for her original initiative ‘Take my hand’. She became one of the 20 Europeans who won out of 600 candidates from 14 European countries. The award was a weekend for two in one of nine European cities.

The aim of the contest was to gather interesting proposals from representatives of NGOs, employees of companies and others signatories of the document. They presented essays - a short initiative present or future that stressed the topic of road safety, leading to undertaking responsibility and commitment to reducing road accidents. Savina participated at the invitation of Open Youth, a non-governmental organization, where she is a volunteer. In 2007 the Open Youth signed the European Charter for road safety and many of its main current projects and activities are related to road safety.
In her essay, she stresses on the need of change in attitude and support for elderly and disadvantaged people, who are road users, too.

Only a few days ago Savina traveled to Bologna in order to receive her prize.

The European Road Safety Charter is an initiative of the European Commission addressing all European citizens and public organizations to undertake concrete actions and to promote the issue of safety and to create opportunities for reduction of road accidents.
