А new "Open Youth" campaign will take place as a part of the overall road  risk prevention program of the association - "Drive responsibly." The actions will be held on 01st and 02nd of October in the town of Blagoevgrad, in cooperation with the Student Council at SWU "Neophyte Rilski", and on 04th and 05th of October in Vratsa in partnership with Vratsa District Administration.

The main aim of this initiative is to turn young people’s attention towards eco-driving, in order to understand the benefits for the people and for the nature from a responsible behaviour on the road and the use of environmentally friendly methods of transport such as walking and cycling. A simulator with eco-driving software will be used during the actions for the purpose of sensitizing. It will calculate each individual participant personal costs of driving in regards to fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and money spent. Based on this, the participants will be able to compare their results through a comprehensive eco-coefficient. In addition, the young people will be sensitized about the consequences alcohol abuse on the road through alcogoggles, simulating vision under the influence of alcohol and drugs, without actually consuming any of it.

The initiative is also part of the "Partnership 2020" project, co-financed by the "Youth in Action" program at the DG "Education and Culture", European Commission, where "Open Youth" is the Bulgarian partner. Its main objectives are to create a sustainable policy and networking between NGOs and the "Corporate Social Responsibility” in the companies towards green transport, and to encourage the participation of young people in initiatives, related to increasing awareness about this type of transport.
