On October 18th 2008 Open Youth will be present in the biggest nightclub in Vidin

A good idea... On 18 October 2008 Open Youth, with the support of Vidin Municipality, will organize for the first time in Bulgaria event to promote road safety, increase public awareness of road problems and to encourage young people not to combine alcohol and driving. The event will be part of the annual European campaign "European night without incident" and and will be held at Club Master on Bdintsi square. The concept of the campaign is simple. It is based on voluntary will and choice. Open Youth, as in its other activities, will not use repressive or pretentious approach, nor do they use a "father-mother" tone, because young people do not favour similar attitude, but regorously oppose it. We will aim to encourage them to behave more responsibly behind the wheel, through positive messages. The goal? To meet young people on their own territory and to speak directly about the problem and the consequences of driving after using alcohol. Volunteers aged 18 to 29 years will be at the entrance to the club and will encourage young people to designate one of them as a driver. The latter will be asked to promise that they will remain sober throughout the night. The "designated driver" will be given a bracelet and when leaving the club, he/she can voluntarily undergo alco/drug test to prove that he/she has complied with his/her promise. If the result is negative, he/she will be awarded with small gifts. If not, the volunteers will try to persuade him/her to leave the car on a parking lot or to friend who has not been drinking. ... that spreads throughout Europe "European night without incident" is first held in Belgium in 1995. The very first event was a great success. The audience meets the idea very positively and the organizers decided to hold the event each year. On Saturday, 18 october 2008, campaigns will be conducted in 21 European countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, Poland, Portugal, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Finland, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic and Hungary. It will be carried out by more than 600 volunteers in over 180 night clubs. After 2003 the "European night without incident" is supported by the European Commission.
